Construction on UPMC's New Vision and Rehabilitation Center is Underway in Uptown

It’s hard to miss — the giant pit in the middle of Uptown (and its impressive fleet of cranes and dumptrucks) mark the beginning of construction on UPMC’s brand new Vision and Rehabilitation Tower.

The new specialty hospital will be located just next door to UPMC Mercy in Uptown, and it will contain nine stories and 410,000 square feet of space for clinicians, researchers, educators and industry partners. The center will specialize in physical rehabilitation for vision impaired patients, and it will contain thoughtful cues throughout the hospital to help visitors navigate the space without the use of sight.
